Christoph Sievering was educated in mechanical/process engineering at University of Essen, Germany. His studies were finalized with a master degree in 1989. He was gaining first professional experience as an engineer with a chocolate company at Mülheim, Germany, and 3 years later submitting his PhD paper on rheology of gel materials. In early 1993, he joined VEBA OEL AG at Gelsenkirchen, Germany and exploring the world of crude oil and refining for the next 13 years. There have been a wide range of positions, countries and experiencing many different company cultures during that time. In 2006 he moved from BP’s trading floor in East London into Procurement with Bayer in Leverkusen, Germany. For the first three years, Christoph Sievering was responsible for global procurement of strategic commodities; followed by three years of leading strategic procurement projects in The Americas, Europe and China. Since end of 2012, Christoph Sievering took over the global position, as Head of Strategic Energy Management. In addition, Christoph is being active in Industrial Symbiosis. For example as Managing Director of CleanTech NRW, which is a local cross-industrial cluster in North Rhine Westphalia bringing together multi-national companies headquartered in North Rhine Westphalia with small/medium-sized entities and institutes and academia. Today, Christoph is speaking as the leader of a newly awarded European programme for enabling CO2 re-utilzation (“enCO2re”), which is supported by the European Institution Climate KIC. Christoph Sievering is chairing the platform of Industrial Symbiosis within Climate KIC organization.
